Americas Players in Pro D2 – Week 3

Week 2 of France’s second division will see eight matches played between today and Sunday. This season continues with Americas players to play an important role in the Pro D2. Argentina, Canada, Uruguay and USA will all be represented.

Kicking-off week 2 will be Oyonnax at home to Colomiers. The visitors have made a cost of changes from week 2 as they seek to preserve their best players for the season’s duration. Argentine hooker Agustín Costa Repetto has been named as Colomiers’ replacement hooker. Jamie Cudmore misses out for Oyonnax though injury.

On Friday Mont-de-Marsan host Bourgoin in another match featuring two former Top 14 clubs. Argentine Carlos Muzzio will play loosehead prop for the home side. On the bench will be Uruguayan Agustín Ormaechea while Leandro Pérez Galeone will feature as a Bourgoin reserve.

Next up the former Top 14 powerhouses Biarritz host Pro D2 newcomers Charente. Leandro Assi will anchor the Basque scrum at tighthead prop. Bruno Mercanti will be a replacement hooker for Charente.

Another Argentine hooker will also play on Friday. Former Puma Martín García Veiga will start for Vannes against Agen. The US-eligible Dave Ryan will be a replacement prop for the visitors. Canada will have two players involved, one for either team. Conor Trainor will again start at outside center for Vannes while Taylor Paris is also retained as a starting winger.

The under-performing Perpignan will be looking for maximum points against Dax in Friday’s final fixture. Organizing play for Dax against the Catalans will be former Puma Ignacio Mieres. He will start at flyhalf. Argentine Martín Chiappesoni will be a replacement flanker for Dax.

Aurillac will host Montauban in the final match of Week 3. American lock Christian Ostberg will be be named as a replacement for the home team in the team release tomorrow.
