Cabrera signs for Alcobendas

Chilean second row Matías Cabrera has switched clubs in Spain’s División de Honor. After spending three years in the city centre with Complutense Cisneros he moves to Alcobendas, located on the outskirts of Madrid. The 28-year-old was selected to play for Los Cóndores in the Americas Rugby Championship, six years after making his debut against Tonga in 2010. He started against Brazil but took no further part in the tournament, opting instead to return to Spain to play for his club side.

Alcobendas finished just behind Cisneros in the 2015-16 season, ending mid-table in 6th spot with 11 each wins and losses. They were defeated by Bathco in the first round of the knock-out stages but can consider that a success given that they were only just promoted to the top division the season before.
