Argentina unveils World Cup kit

Argentine rugby uniform supplier Nike has today revealed new-look home and away uniforms for the Rugby World Cup.  The North American company released the altered uniforms online this afternoon. The uniforms are to be debuted this Friday in the Rugby Championship opener against New Zealand in Christchurch and are readily available throughout Argentina.

As shown below the two designs are drastically different to those uniforms provided by Nike in 2012, 2013 and 2014. The home strip, pictured below to the left features a return to the traditional horizontal stripes and thus putting an end to the controversial diagonal design. The away strip, pictured below to the rights, removes the diamond shaped pattern from the 2014 equivalent and also uses a different combination of blue shades.

The uniforms have been launched for the Rugby World Cup and, as shown, come complete with the tournament logo and without any team sponsor aside from Nike. The shirt will be worn this Friday against the All Blacks but will be the Rugby Championship version, therefore being identical in design but lacking the World Rugby branding and including team sponsor Visa.

Both models include Nike’s advanced DriFit technology which allows for perspiration to evaporate and remain dry and therefore enable players to remain comfortable for a longer period of time. In addition the uniforms fabric is designed to be fit-stretch with elasticity providing players with a greater freedom of movement.

Included on the back of the home shirt is the Argentine sun symbol as shown on the Argentine national flag. The alternative strip shows an altered sun to bring it closer to consistent with the design and colors of the shirt itself. Also featured is the phrase Sean Eternos Los Laureles from the Argentine national anthem as shown in the image below. In English the phrase means ‘May the laurels be eternal’
