San Diego secures Nate Augspurger for 2021

The San Diego Legion have re-signed US Eagles scrumhalf Nate Augspurger for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. He joins returning hooker Dean Muir, draft picks Patrick Madden and Cole Zarcone, and new signing Chris Robshaw on the confirmed list.

Augspurger returned for a third season with the Legion after representing the USA at his first Rugby World Cup in 2019. The 30-year-old played in two matches at the tournament in Japan to take his career total to 26 test caps since his test debut against Italy in 2016.

The 2020 campaign did not go as planned for Augspurger. He captained the side in back-to-back wins to start the season but suffered a knee injury against New England that would end his season early, with the COVID-19 pandemic ending hopes of a quick return.
