Costa Rica Overcome Nicaragua

Costa Rica Overcame Nicaragua today, completing a 58-07 home victory. The fixture was a round two match of the 2017 South American C Championship.

Costa Rica went into the match as heavy favorites. In addition to playing at home Los Ticos were coming off an authoritative win over Panama on Sunday. The 91-5 win was Costa Rica’s biggest of all time, surpassing the 71-3 win over El Salvador in 2013.

Nicaragua’s involvement in the tournament is also historic. Los Tiburones are playing in the South American C Championship for the first time. Their involvement comes with the exit of El Salvador who decided against playing in this year’s edition.

Today’s match against Costa Rica was just the second ever test match that Los Tiburones have ever played. The first was Sunday’s 57-19 defeat to Guatemala.

Both Costa Rica and Nicaragua will play again on Saturday. The final round of the South American C Championship will see Costa Rica facing Guatemala in the tournament final. Nicaragua’s match against Panama will be the Bronze Final.
