Arrows acquire ATL star Rewita Biddle in package deal

The Toronto Arrows have acquired versatile outside back Rewita Biddle and second row Jordan Brown from Rugby ATL. Heading the other direction is one international slot and salary cap considerations for the 2024 campaign. Toronto can now field 9 import players in 2024 and ATL 11.

Biddle, 25, is a former New Zealand 7s representative and proved one of the most dangerous attacking players in Major League Rugby during his first season in the league. He played 13 games, missing three with a troublesome knee injury. Primarily a fullback, he also impressed as a playmaking midfielder and demonstrated useful goal-kicking skills.

Brown was limited to a half-dozen appearances and just three starts in 2023, in part due to the presence of three other import locks at ATL. The 22-year-old Australian stands a lofty 6’7″ (2.01m) and represented England Students in 2022 while playing with Leeds Beckett, the same university attended by current Arrows lock Adrian Wadden.

It’s the second deal in recent days by the Arrows, following the acquisition of Canadian international flyhalf Robbie Povey from Houston in exchange for the 2nd-overall pick in the 2023 Collegiate Draft. The Arrows will also be making significant changes to their coaching staff with Pete Smith and François Ratier already departed, and Rob Howley said to be a eyeing a return to Wales.
