Las Tucanes Selected for Atlanta 7’s

The national women’s Colombian team, Las Tucanes has been selected for the upcoming Atlanta 7’s. The olympic qualified Tucanes are coming off a third place finish at last month’s South American women’s Sevens event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The Colombians are to travel to Atlanta, Georgia on Tuesday, March 05 to play for the first time ever against elite countries in the HSBC Women’s Sevens Series.

Taking place on April 8-9 the event sees Colombia participating as an invitee, competing in Group A against Australia, England and Fiji.

In total there are to be twelve competing countries. Las Tucanes will join regulars in the Women’s Sevens Series, including Australia, Canada, England, Fiji, France, Ireland, Japan New Zealand, Russia, Spain and the USA.

The tournament is to be the third of the season, following prior legs in Dubai and São Paulo. Colombia’s involvement is to be a vital part of Olympic Games preparation and it will be followed by the hosting of an international tournament in Guarne, Antioquia in July.
