Clermont Auvergne partners with NOLA Gold

One of the biggest clubs in Europe has reached a partnership agreement with Major League Rugby’s NOLA Gold. ASM Clermont Auvergne has purchased a minority stake in the New Orleans franchise in a similar arrangement to that of Old Glory DC and Scottish Rugby.

Among the initiatives being discussed are student-athlete exchanges that will see promising Americans spending time at French universities and vice-versa. A ‘cultural exchange’ is also being developed with the strong French culture in Louisiana of interest to many in Clermont-Ferrand.

Clermont have been Champions Cup finalists three times since 2013 and most recently won the Top 14 title in 2017. Among an array of international stars on their roster are Fiji back row Peceli Yato, French halfbacks Morgan Parra and Camille Lopez, and Samoa fullback Tim Nanai-Williams.
