O’Leary earns plaudits as Nottingham beat Ealing

Shane O’Leary earned Man of the Match honors for his role in Nottingham’s impressive 42-27 win over favored Ealing Trailfinders on Saturday. Trailing 27-22 early in the second half, Nottingham held the Trailfinders scoreless in the last half hour, with O’Leary kicking one penalty goal, two wide-angle conversions, and a drop goal to seal the result.

With two conversions and a penalty in the first half O’Leary’s contributions totaled 17 points from the tee, with his distribution sparking two tries including one huge miss pass that put his winger into the corner. The Canadian international has started all nine matches for Nottingham this season and is leading the Championship in points scoring with 107.
