Uruguayan XV Roster for Americas Rugby Championship to Open New Era

The Uruguayan XV roster has been confirmed for upcoming international competition. Uruguay will compete in the Americas Rugby Championship (ARC) in Chile from August 29 to September 06. The tournament will provide the new coaching regime with the opportunity of preparing for World Rugby Nations Cup test matches in November.

The 2026 ARC will be a four team tournament. It will be played over three match days – Saturday, August 29, Wednesday, September 02 and Sunday, September 06. The champion will be determined based on competition points.

Both matches per day will be played at the same match venue. The tournament will open with the Argentina XV facing Paraguay in Talcahuano.

 

FROM JUNIOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

The Uruguayan XV roster comes with experienced campaigners. They include forwards Felipe Aliaga, Manuel Diana, Ignacio Dotti, Ignacio Péculo, and Reinaldo Piussi, and backs Juan Manuel Alonso, and Felipe Arcos Pérez.

The roster also contains graduates from the World Rugby Junior World Championship. Eight members of the roster competed for Los Teritos in this year’s edition of the U20 global event. The players are Juan Francisco Bessio (Prop), Guillermo Curuchet (Hooker), Manuel Ponte (No. 8), Sebastián Pérez (Prop / Hooker), Pedro Suárez (Flanker), Mateo Sosa (NO. 8), Bruno Baccino (Wing), and Justo Ferrario (Fly Half).

Justo Ferrario was Peñarol’s starting fly half during Super Rugby Americas (SRA) 2026. He would likely have featured for Uruguay in test matches in July had the dates of the Junior World Championship not coincided. Ferrario featured for Uruguay in the November 2025 tour of Europe.
