Brazil u19’s down Uruguay u17’s

Brazil’s u19’s team, Os Curumins, opened their two match tour of Uruguay on a high. Tuesday’s fixture saw Os Curumins defeating Uruguay’s team 31-17 in Montevideo. Uruguay fielded a team made-up of u17’s players.

Brazil scored three tries against the Uruguayans. The try scorers were João Gabriel Fonseca Ribeiro (São José), Cauã De Moura Ferreira Tenório (Jacareí) and Gustavo Soquete Gimenes Mazzuca Antelo (Jacareí). Carlos Henrique Da Silva Martins (São José) converted two of the tries and landed four penalties.

Players involved are being considered as development options for the future. Brazil is striving to qualify for a first-ever Men’s Rugby World Cup. Os Tupis face Chile in two Rugby World Cup Qualifiers this month. Uruguay has competed in five Men’s Rugby World Cups.

International competition between Brazil and Uruguay has been extensive. Over the years Los Teros have dominated. Brazil has not won against Uruguay at senior level since 1964.
