The final round of the regular season has arrived. In a crucial match on Friday, the defending champions, Los Dogos play host to Selknam in Córdoba. It is a must-win match for the visitors from Chile. Selknam are in 4th spot on 32 points. Yacare and Los Tarucas are both in contention and will go above Selknam if they win and Selknam lose in the final round.

• Los Dogos are tied for second with Los Pampas on 36 points. Peñarol lead on 38. A victory may mean a home semi final for Los Cordobeses.

• The match will be officiated by the Americas no 1 official, Damián Schneider. It will be his 26th SRA match.
• Schneider  is the most likely person to end the drought of five Men’s Rugby World Cups without an official from the Americas being appointed a match to referee.

The prior match between the teams this season saw Selknam powering to a commanding lead before Los Dogos ran in late tries to finish well. Selknam would happily accept the same outcome again. This is do-or-die for the Chileans. Selknam enter in the best form of the season. Their recent wins have been by playing a controlled brand of rugby with he forwards winning the war of attrition. Los Dogos are favorites to win in Córdoba.
