Rodrigo Isgró returned from suspension for the Harlequins this past weekend. In his return appearance the Puma score two tries and had a third disallowed. The Harlequins were dominant 39-19 winners over Gloucester in London.
Isgró was not the only Puma to score a try in the match; Santiago Carreras scored for Gloucester. Both players are in the frame for international duty in the upcoming mid-year test matches. Los Pumas will open their year away against the British & Irish Lions in Dublin, Ireland.
Juan Martín González also had a busy weekend in England for his club Saracens. The regular starting Pumas flanker scored a hat-trick in Saracens’ 75-28 win over the Newcastle Falcons. González reminded those watching of how much speed he has despite playing back-row.
The win sees Saracens now tied for 4th spot together with Sale Sharks on 49 competition points. Gloucester are 6th on 46 points and the Harlequins are 7th on 43 points. Two rounds remain in the regular season.
As the English Premiership season winds down, planning is well underway for Los Pumas’ matches. Isgró, Carreras and González were all involved in the training camp in March. Felipe Contepomi will have some players unavailable due to the match being played in June and thus outside of the World Rugby release window.
Over in France, Toulouse are very well-placed to make it all the way to the Top 14 Final. They were 50-16 winners over Toulon. It was the 1st placed side easily beating the 3rd placed side. The match also included Pumas with center Santiago Chocobares scoring a try for the winners.
