Joaquín Moro is making a career-defining move. Leicester Tigers, the most successful club in the history of English Rugby, have signed the Argentine on a two-year-deal. Moro will make the move from Buenos Aires province to the English East Midlands for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 seasons. The Leicester Tigers will be his first foreign professional club.
Moro plays back-row. His usual position is N8 and he is equally at home playing flanker. His adaptability comes with a strong skill-set. He is quick for a back-rower. He is a good defender and is busy at the breakdown as well as having a strong aerial game.
He had a breakout season for Los Pampas in Super Rugby Americas 2024. Moro quickly established himself as the starting N8. He is currently playing his second season for the Buenos Aires professional rugby franchise.
The back-rower is a product of Argentino de Bahía Blanca. He is the first ever Puma to come from the club. The Argentino de Bahía Blanca club honored him with a tribute from following his test debut. Injuries and Argentine depth prevented him from earning further caps in 2024.

Moro was one of three players called-up from Super Rugby Americas for the 2024 July Internationals. One of the others was second-rower Franco Molina who debuted against France and played in every test match for Argentina in 2024 before joining the Exeter Chiefs.
In making his test debut Moro became Puma no 892. He started ahead of Pablo Matera and partnered Marcos Kremer and Joaquín Oviedo in the back-row. Moro played the match at flanker and scored two tries on debut against Uruguay. His first cap came at the age of 23.
Moro’s arrival at Leicester Tigers will coincide with the departure of his national captain. Julián Montoya will be continuing his career in France. The 31-year-old will move to Pau to play in the Top 14 for the first time. Pau signed Montoya on a three-year-deal.
Despite Montoya’s move, Leicester could nonetheless have an Argentine teammate for Moro. As reported by Nik Simon, the Leicester Tigers are interested in signing Tomás Albornoz. Additional interest in the Puma has come from Clermont.
Montoya joined the Leicester Tigers in January 2021. Other Argentines to play for Leicester are: Alejandro Moreno (2005-2008), Martín Castrogiovanni (2006-2013), Ramiro Pez (2003-04), Marcos Ayerza (2006-2018), Lucas González Amorosino (2009-2011), Horacio Agulla (2010-2012), Gonzalo Camacho (2013-2016), Pablo Matera (2013-2015), Facundo Gigena (2018-2021), Gastón Cortés (2018-2020),Tomás Lavanini (2019-2021), Matías Moroni (2020-2022), Juan Pablo Socino (2021-2022) and Joaquín Díaz Bonilla (2020-2021).
