There was one place for an Americas competitor on the podium at the Vancouver Sevens. The USA Women’s Eagles claimed 3rd place at the tournament by defeating France 35-21. The outcome for the USA Women’s Eagles is that the team holds on to 3rd place overall for the season. Canada are 5th.
Hosts, Canada finished 5th in the Women’s competition while Argentina claimed 5th place in the Men’s. The titles went to New Zealand (Women’s) and South Africa (Men’s). Canada’s 5th-Place finish came thanks to a 26-19 win over Fiji in the 5th-Place Final. It followed a 19-12 victory by the Canadians over Japan.
South Africa’s Men’s title follows earlier crowns this season at the Perth and Cape Town Sevens. It also sees the Blitzboks joining Fiji at the top of the overall standings for the season. Victor in Vancouver was their first in Canada since the 2021 title in Edmonton, Alberta.
South Africa defeated Spain 38-12 in the Vancouver Men’s Final while Fiji finished third after defeating Australia in the Bronze Final. Los Pumas 7’s were 34-15 winners over France in the 5th Place Final. Earlier on Day Two, Argentina defeated New Zealand 24-21. Los Pumas 7’s are in 6th place overall this season.
