Super Rugby Americas 2025 Semi Finals Confirmed

The Super Rugby Americas 2025 Semi Finals are now official. Teams from three South American countries will compete in the Semi Finals on Friday, June 06. They will take place on either side of the Rio de la Plata; Los Pampas take-on Los Dogos in an Argentine derby while Peñarol host Selknam in El Clásico.

The Semi Finals were confirmed following the results on Friday. Five of the league’s seven teams finished their regular seasons. The Friday matches saw Selknam upsetting Los Dogos on the road in Córdoba and Los Pampas sneaking in a late win over Peñarol, also on the road, in Montevideo.

Selknam’s win elevated the team from 4th to 3rd and means that the 5th placed Yacare can no longer reach the Semi Finals. Yacare face Los Tarucas in Tucumán in the final regular season fixture. The Saturday match will determine who finishes 5th and who finishes 6th. Os Cobras finished bottom after a winless season.

SUPER RUGBY AMERICAS 2025 TABLE
POS TEAM POINTS
1 PAMPAS (AR) 41
2 PEÑAROL (UY) 39
3 SELKNAM (CL) 37
4   DOGOS (AR) 37
5 YACARE (PY) 31
6 TARUCAS (AR) 29
7 COBRAS (BR) 5

Selknam’s road to the Semi Finals was miraculous. Needing to win their final three matches, against higher ranked opposition, the Chileans were seemingly down and out. Selknam knocked-over Los Pampas in Buenos Aires, Yacare in Santiago and Los Dogos in Córdoba. This came after losing key players in a heavy loss against Los Tarucas. It short, it was Selknam running the gauntlet.

Peñarol, Los Pampas and Los Dogos all booked places in the Semi Finals in the penultimate round of Super Rugby Americas 2025. Selknam booked the final Semi Final spot with a 33-31 victory with time winding down against Los Dogos.

Selknam and Los Dogos both finished on 37 points; however, Selknam secured 3rd spot above Los Dogos due to points scored and conceded. The outcome is that two different countries are guaranteed to contest the Super Rugby Americas 2025 Final.
