Further Twist in SRA as Selknam down Yacare to move into Semi Finals Zone

It is not over until it is over. Super Rugby Americas 2025 is testament to this phase. Selknam pulled off a 20-17 win to overtake Yacare. With one round left to play Selknam have their own destiny in their own hands. They have an away match against Los Dogos. A win will ensure they are through to the final four. Yacare also play in Argentina in the last round; they take-on Los Tarucas in Tucumán.

 

MATCH NOTES
  • Selknam had the better of play in the opening half and were 10-3 ahead at the interval.
  • Clemente Saavedra had a captain’s performance. He scored the only try of the opening half.
  • Raimundo Martínez scored the game’s second try. El Chileno Creevy has gone from flanker to hooker and back this season.
  • Martínez did not remain a hero for long as he was yellow carded on 55 minutes.
  • In his 50th SRA appearance for Yacare, Juan González scored on 66 minutes.
  • Joaquín Lamas converted and added a second conversion minutes later. He did so from a try from fullback Julián Quetglas.
  • The scorers were now level. Tomás Salas landed a penalty to see Selknam home three minutes from full-time.
  • The win sees Selknam overtaking Yacare in the standings. Selknam are now 4th on 32 points and Yacare are 5th on 31 points.
