Terrific Tarucas Win Big Over Selknam

A terrific home performance from Los Tarucas sees Los Tucumanos back in the race to the Semi Finals with a bang. Los Tarucas were 41-21 winners over Selknam in the opening fixture of week eleven. The win changes the balance of the run-in to the play-off’s; Los Tarucas have gone from outsiders to now having a strong shot at making the final four.

MATCH NOTES
  • Los Tucumanos outscored the Chileans by five tries to three.
  • The first half concluded with Los Tarucas leading 17-14. A Nicolás Roger penalty was the difference.
  • Both goal-kickers converted all of the tries scored in the match. Roger scored 16 points and had two try assists.
  • The intensity of the first-half was reduced in the second as Los Tarucas took control with an impressive scrum and enterprising play.
  • Los Tarucas completed a bonus point win to collect five competition points from the win. This sees them moving ahead of Yacare, who host Los Pampas on Saturday, and now sitting one point below Selknam.
  • Selknam remain in 4th position but are no longer sitting comfortably.
  • Selknam lost key players Marcelo Torrealba and Martín Sigren to first-half injuries. They are regulars for Chile whom Pablo Lemoine will want fit for Chile’s Rugby World Cup Qualifiers.
  • The home captain, Tomás Bartolini, also left injured in the opening half.
