Huge Performance from Cordero Helps Exeter Into Final

A huge performance from Santiago Cordero helped Exeter into the Anglo-Welsh Cup Final. The Exeter Chiefs will take-on fellow Aviva Premiership side, Bath in the final on Sunday.

The Chiefs’ Semi Final win was against the Newcastle Falcons this past weekend. Playing at home at Sandy Park, Exeter won 20-17.

The player who made the most meters was Santiago Cordero with 135. The Argentine flier also led the statistics with the most carries and the most beaten defenders.

Cordero’s contribution began early. Playing fullback he made a break from the back to gift a try to teammate Stu Townsend in the third minute.

The match saw Cordero starting at his natural position of fullback. With Joaquín Tuculet preferred in the position for Los Jaguares and Los Pumas Cordero has been a winger since rising to the top. His game against Newcastle is unlikely to be a rare occasion for him to play at fullback for Exeter.

Sunday’s final against Bath may see Cordero up against another Puma. Lucas Noguera Paz joined Bath in late 2017. Both he and Cordero were heavily involved with Los Pumas during the post RWC 2015 years and also at the tournament itself.
