Jones leads Canada to Dubai

Harry Jones captains an impressive Canadian roster for the first stop of the 2017-18 HSBC Sevens Series. Former captains John Moonlight and Nathan Hirayama are also headed to Dubai, and there is a host of established veterans at Damian McGrath’s disposal this weekend.

The trio are part of five players who traveled to the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England. Connor Braid returns from a two-year exile that included a season in the Aviva Premiership last year, and Liam Underwood is back in contention after making only two appearances in 2016-17 due to injury.

There is no place for Adam Zaruba, yet to decide his future after a trial with the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles, and Admir Cejvanovic has to settle for the 13th man spot after taking last season off to concentrate on the men’s 15-a-side game.

Canada finished a respectable 8th on last year’s circuit which included their first ever Cup Final victory in Singapore. They have been drawn in Pool A along with three African nations – Kenya, Uganda, and South Africa. Canadians can also watch live on the CBC Sports website. All matches will be also be streamed live by World Rugby.
