Pumas Training with Three New Faces

Los Pumas are training with three new faces. The team’s second week of camp in Buenos Aires features the inclusion of Argentina XV players Juan Cruz González, Agustín Gómez Di Nardo and Rodrigo Bruni. The trio all faced Toulon as did Marcos Kremer and Manuel Montero who rejoined Los Pumas on Monday.

On Monday morning the team began with video analysis. It was followed by a physical test to evaluate the status of all of the roster’s players. Finally the Forwards focused on the lineout and the backs on decision making and defense. The team also trained on improving the clear-out area at ruck time.

The afternoon session saw the roster divided into three groups in the gym. The team regrouped for additional video analysis in the evening.

On Tuesday the training saw the forwards focusing on the scrum and on improving their ball retention. The backs utilized a number of attacking exercises, emphasizing decision-making and playing against the opposition’s areas of strength.

The players will have the day off on Wednesday. On Saturday they depart for South Africa. The opening match of their Rugby Championship campaign will be in Port Elizabeth on Saturday August 19.
