Final Men’s Rosters for Las Vegas 7s

All men’s rosters have now been submitted for the HSBC Sevens Series event in Las Vegas this weekend. Three days of exciting international sevens action begins on Friday with a 4:09pm Pacific, 7:09pm Eastern, kickoff for the first round of pool play. Each team has now declared their final 12 to star the tournament with all 16 teams including a reserve 13th player this weekend.

The Americas are represented by four teams – Argentina, Canada, Chile, and hosts USA. Of those Argentina and the USA look best placed to take a run at the Cup. Argentina have drafted in Fernando Luna and Bautista Delguy from the Americas Rugby Championship and feature a mix of hardened veterans and top young talent such as José Barros Sosa and Matías Osadczuk. The Eagles are without injured Perry Baker but otherwise feature the usual suspects, with stars Perry Baker and Danny Barrett deputizing for captain Madison Hughes.

Apart from their exceptional performance in Wellington, Canada have struggled in the new season. They will be boosted by the return of Phil Berna while world class playmaker Nathan Hirayama has been passed fit to take part in the first North American leg. Chile have sent a young specialist squad led by the experienced Felipe Brangier, one of three players also capped in XVs along with Ignacio Silva and Francisco Urroz.

Current table toppers South Africa have lost superstars Seabelo Senatla and Kwagga Smith to Super Rugby but remain a massively talented squad with the likes of Cecil Afrika, Werner Kok, and Justin Geduld featuring among a host of regulars. Olympic champions Fiji will field playmaker Jerry Tuwai and in-form Joeli Lutumailagi, and Samoa have bolstered their squad not only with new head coach Gordon Tietjens but also a handful of established stars led by Afa Aiono who is restored to the captaincy. Former skipper Fa’alemiga Selesele and lightning-fast finisher Samoa Toloa should add potency to the side.

Other stars set to light up Sam Boyd Stadium include the legendary Collins Injera from fan favorites Kenya, Great Britain try-scoring hero Dan Bibby, and a pair of household names from New Zealand in DJ Forbes and Tim Mikkelson. From France there is the exuberant captain Terry Bouhraoua, 20-year-old sensation Henry Hutchison of Australia, and emerging Wales marvel Morgan Williams, fresh from his hat-trick against Fiji in Sydney.

All matches will be streamed live by World Rugby and NBC.
