South Korea Roster Named for Chile

The South Korean roster has been named for the historic tour of Chile. The north-eastern Asian country will play two tests in Chile this month. The tour is the first of its kind with South Korea playing in the Americas for the first time.

Head Coach John Walters has opted to select a large contingent of Japanese-based players. Those selected include props Shin Dongwon (Munakata Sanix Blues) and Heo Woong (Kamaishi Seawaves), second-rowers Kim Ho Bum (Kubota Spears), Jang Seok Hwan (Kobelco Steelers) and Youn Kwon Woo (Yokogawa Musashino Atlastars), back-rower Park Soon Chai (NTT-Docomo Red Hurricanes) and scrum-half Lee Myung Jun (NEC Green Rockets).

Missing to injury is Jegal Bin. The fly half is considered as being the star of South Korean rugby. He is another to play his rugby in Japan. He plays for the NTT Shining Arcs.

The 25-man squad included fourteen forwards and eleven backs. The team will be captained by prop Shin Dongwon. He is charged with returning home with a series win as South Korea eyes qualifying for Japan 2019.

The two match series will see both matches played in Santaigo. They are to take place on Sunday November 13 and Saturday November 19.
