Canada and Doncaster ready to rumble

The teams have been set for the first match of the Canada ‘A’ tour to the UK. Castle Park will host the match on Saturday with Greene King IPA Championship finalists Doncaster naming a nearly full strength side. Tongan dynamo Latu Maka’afi is on the flank and former Newcastle Falcons bowling ball James Fitzpatrick at centre. Also named in the squad are several recent u20 internationals who are dual-registered with Aviva Premiership clubs, including 2015 World Rugby u20 finalist Will Owen.

Canada feature nine full internationals in the starting XV including one PRO Rugby participant in second row Kyle Baillie. Nanyak Dala is the senior member of the side with 37 caps to his name and there is an experienced halfback duo in Americas Rugby Championship pairing Gord McRorie and Pat Parfrey. On the bench there is one change to the squad as BC Bears flyhalf Guiseppe du Toit has been called as a late tour replacement for Brock Staller.

Kickoff is set for 2:30pm local time, 9:30am Eastern, 6:30am Pacific. There will not be a live stream but highlights will be available following the match. Each side have named extended reserve benches with the match considered a friendly. Canada will name a captain on match day.
