Los Cóndores for South American ‘A’ Championship

Chile has named their squad of 23 for the opening match of the South American ‘A’ Championship against Paraguay on Saturday. The team shows several changes from the group that took part in the Americas Rugby Championship, with seven players added that did not take part in the tournament.

Uni Catolica prop Hernan Amigo joins an experienced front row group, while Gustavo Carrasco of Old Boys is a new name in the second row. Domingo de la Fuente of Old Macks covers both lock and loose forward. COBS halfback Jan Hasenlechner takes the place of Beltrán Vergara, with his clubmate Rodrigo Fernández selected along with recalled Francisco Gonzalez Moller. Old Navy veteran Germán Herrera is the only addition to the outside backs.

Absent are numerous first choice players, among them Bayonne pair Ramón Ayarza and Pablo Huete, and New Zealand-based Sergio de la Fuente. Nikola Bursic is currently with PRO Rugby club San Diego, while Sebastián Kalm is playing for Ohio. Hong Kong 7s star Anton Petrowitsch has returned to his club in Spain.
