Paris back on the rugby pitch

Taylor Paris has his boots on again. After several long months on the sidelines following ACL surgery, the Canadian star returned to action with French club Agen last weekend, putting in a 30 minute shift as a replacement for their u22 side against Stade Français. On Saturday he took another step further, starting the u22 match at Perpignan. He now looks set to compete for a spot in the senior team, with the April 16 match against Clermont a possible target date for his Top 14 debut.

The 23-year-old winger returned from a groin injury to put in a man-of-the-match performance against the US Eagles in Ottawa last August, but tragically suffered a serious knee injury in the final moments of the game, ending his hopes of appearing in the World Cup. His return to action will give Canadian fans hopes of seeing him wear the maple leaf jersey in the upcoming June international series against Japan, Russia, and Italy.

His form at Agen has been exceptional over the past two seasons, culminating in a short-list nomination for Pro D2 player of the year for the 2014-15 season. Despite the injury Paris recently updated his contract with Agen, extending his stay until at least June of 2018. Agen are currently in last spot in the Top 14, with an immediate return to Pro D2 next season looking all but certain.
