Gilmour added to Canada squad

Kyle Gilmour has been called up to replace Evan Olmstead in Canada’s squad in the Americas Rugby Championship. The World Cup loose forward has been playing in the Greene King IPA Championship with Rotherham, but will return immediately to take part in the new international tournament. Olmstead will head in the opposite direction, having arrived at London Scottish over the weekend. While Gilmour is not a like-for-like replacement, there is sufficient second row cover in the squad with Callum Morrison, Liam Chisholm, Paul Ciulini, and Kyle Baillie all options.

Originally from Fort McMurray, Alberta, Gilmour joined Rotherham following the World Cup from the St. Albert club, having also led the Prairie Wolf Pack to their first Canadian Rugby Championship title in 2015. It’s believed his contract was for one season, and it has not been confirmed yet whether he will return to England following the conclusion of the ARC in March. His last appearance for the Titans was on December 12th against Moseley, with his absence from the lineup since being somewhat mysterious given his performances had been unanimously applauded by Rotherham fans.
