Thompson replaces Unufe in USA 7s squad

Brett Thompson has replaced Maka Unufe in the USA Men’s Eagles 7s traveling squad headed for the South Pacific. Unufe’s status is described simply as ‘unavailable’. Thompson was not in the initial group named to take part in the Wellington and Sydney stops on the HSBC Sevens Series, having missed out to newcomer Ben Pinkelman, but was part of the squad for the first two tournaments of the new season in Dubai and Cape Town.

Thompson is the third player to be included in the ‘injured/unavailable’ group, with Garrett Bender and Martin Iosefo also not considered for the upcoming weekends. The series resumes on Friday, January 29, in Wellington, New Zealand. The Eagles are grouped with Samoa, England, and France.
