Carrasco Polo win Copa Uruguay

Montevideo club Carrasco Polo was crowned Copa Uruguay champions this past weekend by defeating Old Boys 31-7. Having missed out on competing in the national club final the match was an opportunity for Carrasco Polo to end the year on a high.

The match began well for the visitors, Old Boys who opened the scoring and Germán Albanell adding the extras. This was, however, as good as the afternoon would get as the one side took over and showed no mercy.

First to cross was Uruguay XV player Gonzalo Soto while another set to play in the Argentine Provincial Championship, Santiago Martinez landed the conversion to make it a 7-7 contest. He followed it up with a penalty.

Carrasco Polo dominated the second half with another Uruguay XV player, Nicolás Freitas scoring the first try after the interval while Thiago Buckstein and Francisco Vecino also both crossed to give the home side a comfortable win.
