Uruguayan Mario Sagario joins Irish Giants

Los Teros front-rower Mario Sagario has signed a contract with southern Irish province Munster. The arrangement will see the Uruguayan World Cup prop playing as a Medical Joker for the coming four months with the possibility for an extension.

Sagario, as such, is on trial with the Guinness Pro 12 giants and is guaranteed to have opportunities to perform between now and February. His opportunity arrived due to the injury problems which Stephen Archer is facing.

The Uruguayan underwent testing with Munster this week and having been deemed to be in a solid physical condition Munster decided to contract him.

Sagario played in all four of Uruguay’s Rugby World Cup pool matches and did so as the starting tighthead prop. Having come through the tournament well the Carrasco Polo produced 29 year old can move on from his prior professional rugby contracts. Since 2008 he has played in both Spain and France playing notably for Dax and  Massy in the Pro d2.
