DTH van der Merwe’s Classy debut for Scarlets

Continuing on from his world class form at the Rugby World Cup Canadian DTH van der Merwe produced a sensational debut performance for Welsh region the Scarlets against Irish province Leinster at the Parc y Scarlets in Llanelli. Crossing for two tries van der Merwe contibuted heavily to the Scarlets’ 25-14 win.

The veteran of three Rugby World Cups made the move to western Wales after having played in Scotland from 2009-2015 and prior to that had a spell with Saracens in England. Now a seasoned professional he fit in right away with the Scarlets.

After four rounds of the league season the Scarlets occupy second position with 16 competition points. Leading the way with 17 is Irish province Munster while reigining champions and van der Merwe’s forme home, the Glasgow Warriors sit in 5th position together with Ulster on 11 points.
