World Rugby Review Canada vs Japan from 2011

In this week’s edition of World Rugby Nail-biting matches takes a look back to the Rugby World Cup 2011 pool match between Canada and Japan. Played in the city of Napier the Pacific Nations Cup rivals competed to a 23-23 draw.

The enthralling encounter featured five tries with DTH van der Merwe, Phil MacKenzie and Ander Monro crossing for the North Americans while Shota Horie and Kosuke Endo scored once each for Japan. Many players involved are to feature in the Pacific Nations Cup and, indeed, Rugby World Cup 2015.

This year’s World Cup will see Japan and Canada playing in different pools. The Asians will take-on Samoa, Scotland, South Africa and the USA in Pool B while Canada will play exclusively against European teams –  France, Ireland, Italy and Romania in Pool D.
