Texas Select Side Touring Cayman Islands

The LoneStar Rugby Conference, made up of Collegiate teams in Texas, has put together a Select Side that is touring the Cayman Islands this week. The Select Side, called the Texas Rattlesnakes, are playing two matches on their tour. They are playing a two-match series against a Cayman Islands XV. The first match is today, July 8th, with the second match on July 11th.

While the team is a talented group of student-athletes, rugby sources in the state have pointed out Tadeo Masjoan of Angelo State and Ryan Rackley of UT-San Antonio as two players to watch out for on the tour. Both are back row players that are powerful ball carriers and workhorses around the pitch.

The Rattlesnakes Coaching Staff includes Michael McKinney (Midwestern State), Pete Lewis (UT-San Antonio), Shayne Roberson (UT-San Antonio), Darren Scott (Southern Methodist), Brannen Ellyson (St. Edward’s), and Tony Wagner (UT-Dallas).

The matches between the Texas Rattlesnakes and Cayman Islands sides are expected to be streamed live on the Cayman Rugby website.
