Dallas Jackals drop out of 2021 MLR season

The Dallas Jackals will not compete in the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The club confirmed the decision on the website. The Dallas Jackals were to make their debut in the upcoming 2021 MLR season as an expansion team.

Dallas were named as an expansion team in 2020. The team will now play their inaugural season in 2022. Home matches in 2021 were to be staged at Globe Life Park in Arlington.

2021 will be the fourth MLR season. The League expanded from seven teams in 2018, to 12 teams in 2021. It includes teams from eleven U.S. cities and the Toronto Arrows form Canada.

The 12 remaining MLR teams will now be able to sign players for the Jackals. A dispersal draft will be held in the near future to potentially redistribute players for the 2021 season.
