Gonzalo Quesada departs Jaguares for Stade Français

Gonzalo Quesada is no longer the Head Coach of Los Jaguares. The former Pumas fly half will continue his coaching career in Europe, confirmed UAR President Marcelo Rodríguez this afternoon.

Rodríguez made the announcement on an online video conference. He noted that Quesada had received an offer to return to France to coach Stade Français. The RWC 1999 and 2003 fly half will officially be back at Stade Français as of July 01.

On social media the club also confirmed that Quesada was on his way back to Paris. The move is not unexpected considering the impact that COVID-19 is having on professional rugby, including at Los Jaguares.

Quesada was France assistant coach from 2008-2011 before being assistant coach of Racing 92 in 2011-2011 and then Head coach of the same club from 2012-2013. From 2013-2017 he was Head Coach of Stade Français, seeing the club to the Top 14 title in 2015.

In 2017 Quesada moved south from Paris to Biarritz to take control of the Pro D2 club. After one season he departed, freeing up the possibility of a return to Argentina after 19 years in France.

Quesada will be reunited with former Jaguares flanker Pablo Matera and fly half Nicolás Sánchez at Stade Français. Their may be others as Guido Petti has been linked to the club.
