MLR Dallas unveils Team Name and Logo

The new Major League Rugby franchise set to launch in Dallas for the 2021 season now has a name – the Jackals. A new logo and social media channels – Twitter / Instagram / Facebook – were launched on Thursday, though the website is yet to go live.

[EDIT: The website is now live at this address.]

Dallas were intended to be among the original MLR teams but dropped out before the league kicked off in 2018. Under the ‘Griffins’ name, the false start included the hiring of former England and Lions coach Mike Ford as Director of Rugby. He eventually parted ways as the bid underwent an overhaul.

Now under the umbrella of Dallas Mavericks GM Donnie Nelson, the team is set to play at Reverchon Park. A redevelopment proposal was initially rejected by Dallas City Council in December but passed when tabled again in January. Construction on a new 3,500 seat stadium has yet to begin with final design plans still to be approved.
