Coronavirus Postpones Hong Kong Sevens to October

The coronavirus has postponed the 2020 Hong Kong Sevens to October, reports Jonathan White. An official announcement is to come from World Rugby on Thursday. The tournament is regarded as the pinnacle annual event of the World Sevens Series.

Scheduled to be played on April 3-6, the competition is to instead be played in October due to the thread of the coronavirus spreading. Thus far the virus, which originated in China, has caused over 1,000 deaths worldwide.

The 2020 Hong Kong Sevens is to be the 45th edition of the tournament. Anticipation for the competition had seen the 40,000 capacity venue set to be sold out for the tournament.
