Danny Barrett to play in 50th World Sevens Series event

Danny Barrett will play his 50th tournament on the World Sevens Series in Cape Town this weekend. The 29-year-old California native headlines an unchanged Eagles squad that will be desperate to finish higher than their 8th-place result in Dubai.

With more than 250 individual matches played on the circuit since his debut in 2014, Barrett is one of the USA’s most decorated sevens players of all-time. He joins teammate Carlin Isles in reaching the half-century mark, with captain Madison Hughes set to follow in the new year with this his 49th tournament.

Barrett is a fan favorite known for wild-man appearance and rampaging runs. He is also an accomplished XV-a-side player, having won 13 test caps for the Eagles in the back row. With the Olympics looming in 2020, a switch to Major League Rugby could be on the cards in 2021.
