Old Glory confirms Ciaran Hearn signing

Old Glory DC have confirmed the signing of Canadian center Ciaran Hearn for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The Newfoundland native turns 34 at the end of the month. He joins the team after representing Canada in his third World Cup, having now collected 73 caps since his debut in 2008.

Hearn signed for English Premiership club London Irish following his outstanding display during the pool stage at RWC 2015. He would stay with the club for four seasons, though injury severely disrupted his game time in the past two.

A versatile player who is comfortable at both midfield positions and fullback, he also has an extensive sevens record that includes four seasons in the World Sevens Series. He played in both the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens and 2014 Commonwealth Games.

It’s a significant addition to the expansion side, who will boast three international midfielders in fellow Canadian international Doug Fraser and USA World Cup select Thretton Palamo. Hearn makes it three Canadians in DC with Canada ‘A’ back row Travis Larsen also signed up.
