Canada vs Namibia Cancelled

World Rugby have cancelled Canada vs Namibia. Scheduled to be the first of four Sunday pool fixtures the match will now not take place. The official reasoning for the cancellation is the level 5 evacuation order remaining in place following Typhoon Hagibis.

The decision to have the match called-off means Canada vs Namibia at RWC 2019 will not eventuate. As such the two teams take 2 competition points out of the match to end their campaigns with three losses each.

In confirming the cancellation World Rugby COO and RWC 2019 Tournament Director Alan Gilpin said:

“The safety of teams, fans, volunteers and workforce is our number one priority. Following strong direction from the Prefecture of Iwate and the City of Kamaishi, we were left with no option but to cancel the match on safety grounds.”
