USA Rugby names 2019 Men’s Collegiate All-Americans

Following the completion of the inaugural cross-border clash between the Men’s Collegiate All-Americans and the Canadian University All-Stars, USA Rugby has confirmed their official honors teams for the 2018-19 season. Three XVs teams have been named with Division 1 and 2 sevens sides also selected.

All but two of those named on the 1st Team were part of the team that played in Glendale last month. The absentees were Cal Berkeley prop Damon Wiley and Life second row Jamie Berrisford. Three players earned 1st Team honors in both 7s and XVs – Life winger Harley Wheeler, and Lindenwood duo Wesley White and Cristian Rodriguez.

Berrisford, White, and Wheeler are three of six players who were also 1st Team selections in 2018. The others are St. Mary’s scrumhalf Sean Yacoubian, and Life backs Duncan van Schalkwyk and Mitch Wilson.

Five players have already been confirmed as joining Major League Rugby expansion sides for the 2020 season. van Schalkwyk will be joined by Life teammate Julian Montes at Rugby ATL, Wilson was recently confirmed by the New England Free Jacks, while Jack Iscaro and Mike Dabulas will play for Old Glory DC.
