Trinidad & Tobago Shock USA South Panthers in Thriller

Trinidad & Tobago shocked the USA South Panthers in a thriller on Saturday. Played in pouring rain at St Mary’s College ground in St Clair Trinidad & Tobago completed an amazing 34-33 victory.

The remarkable victory was secured despite the USA South Panthers having held a comfortable 27-12 lead at half time. Questions were raised over whether full-time had been passed when the USA South Panthers continued to hold the lead.

Then following Trinidad & Tobago having gone ahead by one point there was to be an additional two minutes of play. Instead intervention from the assistant referee saw the game ended.

The result sees Trinidad & Tobago moving into the top four of the table in the Rugby Americas North (RAN) Championship.

The match was the second of the 2018 RAN Men’s Championship for Trinidad & Tobago. Their opening match was also a narrow encounter, with them defeating Bermuda 27-24 on May 19 at St. Anthony’s College ground in Westmoorings.

Trinidad & Tobago have one more match to play against the Cayman Islands. Originally scheduled for June 23, the date is now unconfirmed pending the release of government funding.

The USA South Panthers return to action on July 07. They are to do so at home against the Cayman Islands. The fixture is to bring to a close the RAN Championship for 2018.
