Paraguay to Host Sudamérica Rugby u20’s

Paraguay is to host the 2018 Sudamérica Rugby u20’s. The tournament will take place in the national capital of Asunción at a yet to be determined date this year.

Confirmation of the decision took place at a recent Sudamérica Rugby meeting in Montevideo, Uruguay. There the proposal put forward by the Unión de Rugby del Paraguay (URP) was unanimously accepted. With it Paraguay was officially allocated hosting rights to the tournament this year.

The move follows Paraguay establishing a High Performance Plan for rugby. The project has men’s and women’s players both benefitting at senior and youth levels by utilizing the national Paraguayan Olympic (COP) training center.

In 2017 Paraguay’s u19 side were crowned South American ‘B Champions. They went undefeated in defeating Colombia, Peru, and Venezuela.
