Eagles to play June tests in Denver and Houston

USA Rugby confirmed on Thursday the locations of their two home test matches for their June test series. Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Denver will host the first on Saturday, June 9, with the second coming a week later at Houston’s BBVA Compass Stadium. Tickets to both matches will be available to the public starting February 20 with pre-sales beginning February 13.

Originally expected to be Germany, the opponent in Denver is now up in the air pending the results of the Rugby Europe Championship. The second will be Scotland, who will start their all-Americas tour in Canada before heading south to Houston followed by a long flight to Argentina to play the Pumas.

Dick’s Sporting Goods Park is the home of the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer. It has previously hosted the Eagles during the 2009 Churchill Cup. BBVA Compass Stadium has hosted four previous Eagles internationals, most recently against the Argentina XV during the 2016 Americas Rugby Championship.

Multiple sources have indicated that the Eagles will complete their June series with a test against neighbors Canada, to be played north of the border at a venue still to be determined. The two sides are set to meet at Papa Murphy’s Park in Sacramento tomorrow.
