Seawolves sign Eagles cap Mike Garrity

The Seattle Seawolves have confirmed the signing of USA international Mike Garrity for the 2018 Major League Rugby season. Primarily a center, he can also cover the wing having played the majority of the 2016 PRO Rugby season with the Denver Stampede at that position. Garrity won both of his Eagles caps during the 2016 Americas Rugby Championship, starting at outside center against Brazil.

At 29 years old Garrity provides an experienced head for the Seawolves midfield and also a powerful physical presence. His ability to bend or break the gainline should suit the attacking style that the Seawolves are set to employ, and he gives the team two imposing centers alongside Canadian international George Barton.

Garrity joins from the Seattle Saracens club and several of his clubmates already recruited. Fellow Eagles internationals Olive Kilifi, Aladdin Schirmer, Shalom Suniula, and Mike Palefau are familiar faces as are Dion Crowder and new signing Mike Shepherd.

Seattle’s Major League Rugby campaign officially kicks off on April 22 with a home opener against the San Diego Legion at Starfire Stadium. They are set to play a preseason match against a Vancouver Island Select XV at Westhills Stadium in Langford, BC, on February 11.
