Pro D2 – Week 22 Preview

Against the backdrop of international competition will be Week 22 of the Pro D2. France’s second division has matches taking place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The following preview identifies the involvement of players from the Americas.

Competition leaders Montauban have home advantage to open week 22. They are to take-on Carcassonne, a team seemingly poised for relegation. Looking to remain in the Pro D2 is Demian Panizzo. The Argentine will start in the second-row.

Also in danger is Narbonne. The Mediterranean side face Charante on the road. They are to do so with USA forward David Tameilau starting at no 8 and Argentine Segundo Tuculet playing on the right wing.

Both Tameilau and Tuculet have experience in the Americas Rugby Championship. This weekend sees two matches played in the tournament. It also sees Uruguay at home to Canada in a Rugby World Cup qualifier. Looking to see Uruguay book their spot as Americas 2 is Felipe Berchesi. His involvement means Dax have to face Mont de Marsan without him. Jeronimo Negrotto will play as a replacement prop for Mont de Marsan.

Up in Vannes Javier Lagioiosa starts against Grenoble. The Argentine is to do so in the second-row. Nothing less than a victory for the visitors will do as they continue to press for a return to the Top 14.

On Saturday the Basque clubs of Biarritz and Bayonne face-off in one of the classic derby battles. Line-up’s for this fixture will be named later today. Both teams have players from the Americas with Biarritz also being coached by former Puma Gonzalo Quesada.

Week 22 will conclude with Perpignan hosting Colomiers on Sunday. Involvement from the Americas is also expected. The lineup’s for the match are to be released on Saturday afternoon.
