Austin sign Alain Hyardet as Head Coach

Austin Elite Rugby have signed former Montpellier manager Alain Hyardet as Head Coach for the 2018 Major League Rugby season. Previously operating under the Austin Huns banner, Austin Elite have moved quickly to find a suitable replacement for the popular Eugene Eloff who has opted to return home to South Africa.

Hyardet, 52, boasts an extensive coaching resume that saw him take charge at Perpignan, Béziers, Clermont Auvergne, and Stade Phocéen since retiring as a player in 1996. His most recent coaching assignment was a second stint with Perpignan during the 2014-15 Pro D2 season when he took the side to within a whisker of promotion.

A midfielder with Clermont, Béziers, and Castres, he represented France on two occasions. Hyardet made his test debut against Italy in October 1995 and was a reserve against Argentina a week later. Both matches were played in Buenos Aires.
