Tuculet Returns Home from New Zealand

Leading Argentine fullback, Joaquín Tuculet is returning home from New Zealand. In doing so the star 28-year-old will not be available for Los Pumas’ away match against Australia in Canberra next Saturday.

Tuculet is to depart New Zealand on Sunday to be with his family. He is awaiting the birth of his child. Prior to departing Buenos Aires for New Zealand, Tuculet had an arrangement with Daniel Hourcade and his coaching staff.

The La Plata outside back earned his 45th cap for Argentina this morning. He played fullback in the defeat against New Zealand in New Plymouth. Emiliano Boffelli and Santiago Cordero joined him in the starting back-three. Both players can cover fullback. The same is true of Ramiro Moyano who is with the team but missed today’s match.

Of the three Cordero is the most experienced. The 23-year-old has 30 caps for Argentina and has previously started against both Australia and England at fullback.

Boffelli is just one year younger than Cordero. He, nonetheless, is far newer in the senior roster. The Rosario flier made his test debut against England in June. In that and his four subsequent matches he played wing.

Moyano partnered Boffelli in both Rugby Championship games against South Africa. The pair were the starting wingers, playing together with Tuculet in the back-three.

Hourcade will have Tuculet available again for the final two rounds. Argentina will play host to New Zealand and Australia in Buenos Aires and Mendoza respectively. The matches are to take place on September 30 and October 07.
