Guatemala Hammer El Salvador In first Test Match of 2017

Guatemala hammered El Salvador in what was the country’s first test match of 2017. Played at the Estadio del Ejército in Guatemala City, Los Jaguares were far too strong for Los Torogoces as they won by a record margin of 114-0.

The fixture was for the Copa Herman Arrua 2017. The one-off test match was the first of the year for both countries. Guatemala is preparing for upcoming international competition. The Central American republic will compete in Costa Rica from August 27 to September 03.

This year’s edition will be played in Costa Rica. Changes from previous years see the inclusion of Nicaragua. History will be made with the country competing for the first time. Not involved is El Salvador which means the competition will remain as a four team format.

Having won back-to-back titles over the past two years, Guatemala is favored to make it three consecutive South American C Championship titles.

The path of the South American C Championship is also within range. Ecuador’s non-participation in this year’s tournament is expected to open the door to changes for 2018. With Guatemala narrowing having missed out on defeating Ecuador in repechage a year ago there is plenty to play for for Los Jaguares.
