Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil and Chile Clash in u20’s in Minas

Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil and Chile are to clash at u20 level in Minas, Uruguay. They will compete in the South American Junior Championship, an under 20’s competition. Matches will take place on July 28 and August 02.

This year’s edition is to serve as final preparation for Los Teritos and Los Cóndores u20’s. The Uruguayan and Chilean sides will compete in the Junior World Rugby Trophy in Montevideo in August and September.

The Argentine and Brazilian teams are to be made up of players from their respective youth systems. Selections have been made with an eye to 2018 competition.

The competition is to be played at the Estadio Juan Antonio Lavalleja. On Saturday July 29 Argentina will face Chile and Uruguay will take-on Brazil. The second day of competition will be on Wednesday August 02. The losing sides will meet on match-day 02 as will the winners.

Argentina is coming off a disappointing campaign in the World Rugby Junior World Championship. Los Pumitas avoided relegation by defeating Samoa. In earlier matches the South Americans had one win over Georgia and one loss in addition to losses against France and South Africa.

As the host nation of the 2018 Junior World Championship, the upcoming tournament in Uruguay is of vital interest to Argentina.
